NIA LAUNCHES P970-MILLION IRRIGATION PROJECT IN DANAO, BOHOL
The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region VII formally launched the Hibale Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) through a groundbreaking ceremony held today, July 4, 2025, in Barangay Hibale, Danao, Bohol.
NIA Acting Regional Manager Engr. Antonio B. Gujeling led the ceremonial laying of the capsule at the project site, joined by Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado, 2nd District Congresswoman Maria Vanessa C. Aumentado, and Danao Mayor Maria Celeste Cepedoza-Lerion along with other local officials.
With a total approved cost of ₱970 million, the project is expected to irrigate 405 hectares of agricultural land across four barangays—Hibale, Nahug, Poblacion, and Sto. Niño—benefiting around 800 farmers once completed.

A shining moment of triumph not only for Cebu but for all farmers in Region VII as the Colawin Pump Irrigation System Association (Colawin PISA), Inc. received a prestigious Nationwide Special Award during the “Daloy ng Tagumpay: The 62nd NIA Founding Anniversary Culminating Activity” held by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Central Office in EDSA Diliman, Quezon City.
The award ceremony, led by NIA Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen on 27 June 2025, recognized Most Outstanding Irrigators Associations (IAs) across the country who have exemplified dedication, unity, and excellence in managing irrigation systems and contributing to agricultural productivity.
NOSO, STRONGER TOGETHER: BUILDING MORE THAN JUST A TEAM
To strengthen unity and collaboration, the National Irrigation Administration – Negros Oriental Satellite Office (NIA-NOSO) held a Team Dynamics Activity on June 5, 2025, with the theme “Stronger Together: Building More than Just a Team.”
The one-day activity was divided into two parts: a morning training session held at the NOSO Function Hall, and an afternoon team-building program at The Barn in Mango Ranch, Valencia, Negros Oriental.
STRENGTHENING CONVERGENCE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER AND POVERTY
With unwavering commitment to inclusive development and community empowerment, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region VII hosts the 2nd Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Regional Convergence Team (RCT) Partners Quarterly Meeting at the Central Visayas Training Center (CVTC) Function Hall in Tagbilaran City on June 17-18, 2025.
In his warm and purposeful welcome message, Engr. Antonio B. Gujeling, Acting Regional Manager of NIA Region VII, expressed deep gratitude for the renewed collaboration among EPAHP stakeholders and partners.
REINFORCING CORE VALUES TO STRENGTHEN INTEGRITY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
In a continuing effort to promote moral integrity, ethical leadership, and social responsibility among its personnel, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Bohol-Siquijor Irrigation Management Office (IMO) conducted a Values Restoration Seminar on June 5,2025 at Tuburan 360, Cebu.
The seminar was facilitated by distinguished motivational speakers and educators, Dr. Ireneo P. Leuterio and Ms. Josephine Leuterio. Their lectures and dynamic activities aimed to rekindle the participants' awareness of personal values and strengthen their ethical consciousness as public servants.
NIA CEBU RECEIVES HEAVY EQUIPMENT FROM CENTRAL OFFICE TO STRENGTHEN IRRIGATION SERVICES
In a move to strengthen field operations and enhance irrigation service delivery, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Bohol-Cebu-Siquijor Irrigation Management Office (BCSIMO) received newly delivered heavy equipment from the NIA Central Office, formally blessed on June 12, 2025, at the Can-asujan Dam in Carcar City, Cebu.
The new fleet includes one (1) JCB Backhoe Loader, one (1) SinoTruk Self-Loading Truck, and two (2) SinoTruk Mini Dump Trucks. These units are set to bolster operations and maintenance efforts in key irrigation systems in southern Cebu, particularly the Basak Communal Irrigation System (CIS) and Monteverde Small Irrigation Project (SIP) in Samboan, Cebu.
NIA BCSIMO ASSESSES MID-YEAR PERFORMANCE TO BETTER SERVE FARMERS
To ensure more responsive and effective irrigation services for local farmers, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Bohol-Cebu-Siquijor Irrigation Management Office (BCSIMO) conducted its Mid-Year Assessment on June 6, 2025 at Tuburan 360, Cebu.
Led by Division Manager Engr. Maritez I. Soria, the activity brought together key teams from the Engineering, Operations, Institutional Development, Administrative, and Finance units to evaluate accomplishments from January to June 2025.
Mr. Evaristo Borja (Bohol-Siquijor Office) and Engr. Nelson M. Miralles (Cebu Office) led the presentations, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to delivering timely and sustainable irrigation support to farming communities.

The Colawin Pump Irrigation System Association, Inc. (Colawin PISA) is now at the forefront of diversified and sustainable farming in the Visayas—officially validated as Region VII’s contender for NIA’s Most Outstanding Irrigators Association- Diversified Crops Category.
On June 3, 2025, the validation team from CARP-IC PMO visited Colawin to see firsthand how this hardworking group of farmers transformed their community through crop diversification, sustainability, and unity.
