BENEFICIARIES OF NIA PROJECTS IN SIQUIJOR JOIN THE KADIWA TRADE FAIR IN LAZI

The Sinataca Farmers Irrigators Association and Capalasanan Farmers Cooperative—both beneficiaries of National Irrigation Administration (NIA) projects—actively showcased their farm produce at the "Kadiwa sa Siquijor" Trade Fair held from May 29 to 31, 2025, in celebration of the town’s 171st Founding Anniversary.

Their booths featured freshly harvested rice, bananas, bitter gourds, mangoes, pomelos, kalamansi, spring onions, eggplants, camote tops, and eggs—all cultivated by farmer-members through irrigated farming.

CEBU'S AISAI VIES FOR MOST OUTSTANDING IA IN VISAYAS

The Argao Irrigation System Association, Inc. (AISAI), based in Argao, Cebu, has recently undergone a comprehensive validation as Region VII’s official entry in the Search for the Most Outstanding Irrigators’ Association in the Visayas—a highlight of the upcoming 62nd NIA Anniversary Celebration this June.

Established in 1993, AISAI manages both the Argao Communal Irrigation System (CIS) and the Canduran Pump Irrigation System (PIS), collectively serving 129 hectares and 617 farmer-members, all of whom are agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs). With 100 hectares devoted to rice and 29 hectares for high-value crops, AISAI exemplifies efficient irrigation service delivery rooted in grassroots participation and strong organizational leadership.

GREENER SPACES, HEALTHIER NIA RVII EMPLOYEES THRU URBAN GARDENING

As part the month-long celebration of the 62nd Founding Anniversary of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), employees of the Regional Office VII participated in an Urban Gardening Course, today, at the CVTC Function Hall, Dao, Tagbilaran City.

The training aimed to equip employees with practical skills and knowledge on urban gardening, aligned with the agency’s commitment to resilience, self-sufficiency, and wellness--even in urban and space-limited environments.

The resource speaker, Mr. Jorge F. Trinidad, Training Specialist II of the Agricultural Training Institute -VII (ATI-VII), emphasized the production of safe and healthy food within the comfort of one’s home using recyclable and lightweight materials.

NIA BCSIMO CEBU UNDERGOES QMS INTERNAL AUDIT

The NIA Bohol-Cebu-Siquijor Irrigation Management Office (BCSIMO) Cebu Office underwent a three-day Internal Quality Audit (IQA) from May 28 to 30, 2025, conducted by the Internal Quality Audit Team of the National Irrigation Administration Region VII. This initiative forms part of the agency’s commitment to maintaining and improving its Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO standards.

The audit, held at NIA Cebu Conference Room, aimed to determine whether the QMS is effectively implemented, maintained, and continually improved. It also sought to ensure compliance with set quality standards, identify areas of inefficiency and nonconformity, and recommend appropriate corrective actions and improvements.

NIA TURNS OVER 10 IRRIGATION SYSTEMS TO CEBU FARMERS

The National Irrigation Administration Bohol-Cebu-Siquijor Irrigation Management Office (NIA-BCSIMO) Cebu Office officially turned over 10 completed irrigation systems in Cebu City, benefitting seven irrigators’ associations under the Cebu City Hillyland Irrigators’ Federation, Inc. (CCHFIA).

The ceremonial turnover, held at CREMDEC, Taptap, Cebu City, during CCHFIA’s Annual General Assembly, aims to boost upland farm productivity and ensure sustainable water access.

Farmer-beneficiaries include members of Cambinocot Pump Irrigatiors Association, Brgy. Binaliw IA, Proper Sudlon 2 IA, Lungkiyab IA, Brgy. Sinsin IA, Brgy. Taptap IA, and Gaang Baogo Paril IA.

ROAD SAFETY: BUILDING SAFER HABITS FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS

In observance of Road Safety Month every May, the Human Resources Unit of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region VII organized a Road Safety Awareness Seminar on May 26, 2025, for employees at the CVTC Function Hall.

This timely initiative aimed to strengthen employees’ understanding of road safety principles, especially crucial for NIA personnel who regularly travel to field offices and project sites as part of their public service duties.

Bringing essential government services closer to the workplace, the Human Resources Unit of the National Irrigation Administration Region VII (NIA R7) organized an SSS Information Seminar for its employees this morning, 26 May 2025.

The activity was held in partnership with the Social Security System (SSS) as part of NIA’s commitment to promote employee welfare and provide timely access to relevant government programs.

Titled “Know Your Legal Obligations Under the SS Law, Policies, and Regulations,” the seminar aimed to make SSS services more accessible and convenient for NIA personnel while enhancing their awareness of membership rights, benefits, and responsibilities under the SS Law.

NIA-NOSO STRENGTHENS IA SUPPORT THRU CONVERGENCE

In its steadfast commitment to support and uplift Irrigators’ Associations (IAs), the National Irrigation Administration –Negros Oriental Satellite Office (NOSO), headed by Engr. Helen T. Lacpao, successfully conducted a two-day Convergence Meeting, and the Sidlakang Negros Federation of Irrigators’ Associations (SINEFIA) General Assembly on April 22–23, 2025, at the NOSO Conference Hall in Sibulan.
