Tagbilaran City – “NIA, IA, LGU magkaagapay para sa ikauunlad ng buhay”, as this year’s anniversary theme suggests, the National Irrigation Administration 7 emphasizes the significance of the relationship between these institutions in achieving the ultimate goal of uplifting the lives of our farmers and eventually provide Central Visayas adequate resources of foods and contribute to the food sufficiency program of our government.
As a kick-off to the upcoming NIA Anniversary, the agency held its Annual Tree Planting Program on June 10, 2016. The nationwide activity has been a significant part of the agency’s anniversary as a proof to its commitment in helping the conservation of watersheds in the country and mitigating the impact of climate change.
Through the assistance of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources 7 and its PENROs, the NIA 7 successfully conducted this year’s tree planting activity with a total of 2,300 seedlings consisting of various tree species. These were planted across five (5) identified watershed sites in province of Bohol and in Cebu.
