TURNOVER OF LEADERSHIP IN NIA REGION VII

As it welcomes a new leader, National Irrigation Administration Region 7 conducts a Turnover Ceremony of Regional Leadership at the Covered Court, NIA Regional Office 7 Compound, Dao District, Tagbilaran City, Bohol on October 28, 2021.

In the ceremony presided by NIA Administrator Gen Ricardo R Visaya (Ret), outgoing Regional Manager Engr. Wilson M. Lopez passed on the leadership of NIA Region 7 to incoming Acting Regional Manager Engr. Reyne B. Ugay.

Engr. Lopez has served this region for more than two years before his latest appointment to his home region, Region 4-A. While Engr. Ugay worked as the Acting Division Manager for Design and Specification in NIA Central Office before being appointed as Acting Regional Manager of this region.

NIA-7 BREAKS GROUND FOR P1.5B BOHOL NORTHEAST IRRIGATION PROJECT

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region 7 kicks-off the construction of the P1.537 Billion-worth Bohol Northeast Integrated Irrigation Project or BNIIP on October 27, 2021 in Tomoc, San Miguel, Bohol.

This project features the construction of 6 Series of Dams namely: Isumod Diversion Dam, Cambangay Catch Dam, Ipil Diversion Dam, Hinlayagan Ilaya Diversion Dam, Kinan-oan Diversion Dam and Cambangay Diversion Dam in the Municipalities of Danao, San Miguel, Trinidad and Bien Unido, Bohol.

An estimate of 683 farmers in 30 barangays of the mentioned towns of the 2nd District of Bohol will benefit from this initiative as it aims to provide irrigation water supply to 2,133 hectares of rice farm.

NIA R7 hosts one-day orientation on CIS Devolution to PLGUs, CLGUs and MLGUs

Governors, City and Municipal Mayors all over Region 7 gather virtually in their respective venues for an orientation to discuss the Communal Irrigation System (CIS) Devolution last October 8, 2021.

The goal of the one-day event is to arrive in one common understanding of what NIA functions and responsibilities for Communal Irrigation Systems will be devolved to LGUs.

As mandated by the Supreme Court's decision also known as the “Mandanas Ruling”, services implemented by the National Government Agencies shall be fully and permanently devolved to the LGUs, which in NIA's case includes CISs.

IA Presidents in Talibon SRIS gather for a System Management Committee Meeting on October 7, 2021 in Zamora, Talibon, Bohol

The agenda of the meeting is to evaluate and review their past Cropping Calendar, deliberation and approval of their 2022 1st Crop Proposed Cropping Calendar, and Water Delivery and Distribution Plan.

Through the invitation of National Irrigation Administration Region 7. government agencies that cater to farmers were also present in the event. These offices presented their programs and services offered to assist the farmers.

Presenters in the event are Talibon Municipal Agriculturist Angelito Oroyan, PCIC 7 Representative Christian Owen Vallegos, Landbank of the Philippines Division Manager Cecilio B. Clarete, PATCO Bohol Representative Roman M. Dabalos, Provincial Agriculturist Representative Lorebien Lagapa and NIA Legal Researcher Orlan Louie L. Redulla.
