The award ceremony, led by NIA Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen on 27 June 2025, recognized Most Outstanding Irrigators Associations (IAs) across the country who have exemplified dedication, unity, and excellence in managing irrigation systems and contributing to agricultural productivity.

Representing Colawin IA were President Candido S. Caminero and BOT Jaime Villamor, who proudly received the Plaque of Recognition and P50,000 cash award on behalf of the association located in Purok Bayabas, Brgy. Lengigon, Argao, Cebu.

With them were key supporters from NIA Region VII, including Acting Regional Manager Engr. Antonio B. Gujeling, BCSIMO Manager Engr. Maritez I. Soria, Institutional Development Officer (IDO) Ms. Geogina B. Visitacion, RO IDS Chief Felipa C. Dañoso, and Cebu Office IDSU Head Rowena G. Encabo.

The event was graced by Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III as Guest of Honor and Speaker, alongside top officials from NIA, IA leaders, and fellow farmers nationwide.

This award is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Colawin IA in sustaining efficient irrigation practices and uplifting the livelihood of their member-farmers. It highlights how effective collaboration between farmers and NIA can lead to transformative results in the countryside.

Their success story is a source of inspiration for other Irrigators Associations and farmers in the region. It shows that with strong leadership, community cooperation, and support from government agencies, even small associations can rise to national recognition.

As NIA continues to promote empowered, self-reliant farmer organizations, the story of Colawin IA is a reminder that every farmer plays a vital role in nation-building—and that excellence in irrigation management leads to abundant harvests, improved lives, and a future full of promise.

Congratulations, Colawin IA! You make NIA Region VII proud. May your story spark the next wave of success among farmers and IAs across the Philippines.
