To ensure more responsive and effective irrigation services for local farmers, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Bohol-Cebu-Siquijor Irrigation Management Office (BCSIMO) conducted its Mid-Year Assessment on June 6, 2025 at Tuburan 360, Cebu.
Led by Division Manager Engr. Maritez I. Soria, the activity brought together key teams from the Engineering, Operations, Institutional Development, Administrative, and Finance units to evaluate accomplishments from January to June 2025.
Mr. Evaristo Borja (Bohol-Siquijor Office) and Engr. Nelson M. Miralles (Cebu Office) led the presentations, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to delivering timely and sustainable irrigation support to farming communities.
For farmers and stakeholders, the assessment means that NIA is actively monitoring its progress to ensure your needs are met. Highlights included:
• Engineering Section reported on the status of ongoing irrigation projects, especially the CY 2024 Carry-Over Projects, along with catch-up plans to avoid delays in delivering irrigation to farms.
• Operations shared updates on initiatives that directly impact productivity, including contract farming, improved farm mapping through the Farmland Geographic Information System (GIS), and the efficient management of irrigation water.
• The Institutional Development Unit outlined their ongoing work in farmer engagement and partnership building, ensuring your voices are heard and included in development plans.
• Administrative and Finance Units presented programs focused on staff capacity building and financial sustainability, both crucial to keeping services running smoothly and effectively.
This Mid-Year Assessment strengthens teamwork across field offices and promotes a more farmer-focused approach in delivering irrigation services.
Moving forward, NIA BCSIMO remains focused on innovation, cooperation, and adaptability to help farmers in Bohol, Cebu, and Siquijor become more resilient and productive.
