
Walog Communal Irrigation System, a Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program- Irrigation Component (CARP-IC) funded project, was officially turned over to its Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Maria, Siquijor on April 19, 2023.
This P4 million-worth project includes the construction of diversion works, 14 canal structures and a total of 925-meter canal linings.
This will provide irrigation service to 8 hectares of farmland, benefitting 26 ARBs of Barangays Poblacion Sur and Pisong A in Maria, Siquijor.
NIA CARP-IC PMO Project Manager Engr. Wilhelm S. Tiangco led the ribbon cutting with Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Siquijor representative Renee Sichon, and Siquijor Board Member Hon. Meynard Asok.
NIA Central Office Engineering Division Manager Engr. Alfred D. Amoloria, and Engr. Marykel S. Lozano- Supervising Engineer-A along with NIA Region VII Engineering and Operations Division Manager Engr. Orencio M. Apale, BCSIMO Manager Engr. Danilo M. Bugnos, Jr., NIA Siquijor Office Head Evaristo Borja and other NIA key personnel were also present in the occassion.
During the Inauguration and Turn-over Ceremony held at Poblacion Barangay Hall, Maria, the president of the Walog Irrigators' Association, Mr. Ricky G. Guibag expressed his gratitude for the project.
"Salamat kaayo sa proyekto nga inyong gihatag sa Walog IA, amo kining ampingan para usab sa mga musunod nga henerasyon sa mag-uuma" [Thank you for giving Walog IA this project. We will take good care of it not just for us but also for the next generation of farmers to come]
