
Bayong SIP in Balamban Cebu Province is funded under CY 2020 Small Irrigation Project (SIP Fund) worth 10M pesos and CY 2022 Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program-Irrigation Component (CARP-IC Fund) worth 2M pesos.
It has a total service area of 40 hectares, serving the barangays Bayong, Cansomoroy, Lamesa, and Vito, benefitting a total of 76 farmer beneficiaries- 50 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and 26 Non-ARBs, managed by the Bayong Lamesa Irrigators Association.
The 10M CY 2020 SIP Fund consist of one 20x4x2 covered reservoir, one 12x4x2 covered reservoir, 2 Spring box intakes, 2 Pressure Breaker Boxes, 1 Control Box, 15 Distribution Outlets and approximately 6.5 KM of pipeline system generating 25 hectares.
This P2-million extension project funded by the (CARP-IC) in 2022 provided 13 additional distribution outlets and approximately 1.7 km pipeline system generating a new area of 15 hectares. The extension will benefit Barangay Lamesa in Balamban, Cebu Province that’s part of the CANLAVI ARC (Cansamoroy Lamesa Vito Agrarian Reform Community).
The construction of CY 2020 project started on August 17, 2020 through Local Minor Contract (LMC) and was completed on January 15, 2021. While the 2M project started on August 17, 2022 through Force Account Works and was completed on November 15, 2022.
Engr. Wilhelm S. Tiangco, NIA CARP-IC PMO Project Manager graced the event together with NIA Region VII Engineering and Operations Division Manager Engr. Orencio M. Apale, BCSIMO Manager Engr. Danilo M. Bugnos, Jr. and other NIA key personnel.
NIA Cebu Office constructed irrigation pipelines and structures for the project to irrigate high-value crops in the mountainous slopes of Balamban, Province of Cebu.
