After being hit by the Super Typhoon “Odette”, the National Irrigation Administration 7 Regional Office launched a relief operation to extend aid to all its Field Offices Job Order employees on January 21, 2022.
The storm wreaked havoc in Bohol in mid-December and left over a hundred dead and tens of thousands homeless.
To help ease the struggles of the typhoon victims, NIA 7 launched Bundle of Joy, a campaign that aims to bring joy to the beneficiaries through bundles of the two most basic human needs— food and clothing.
They distributed 4 kilos of rice, sardines, noodles, coffee, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, toothpaste, bath soap, detergent powder, bar soap, and shampoo to Malinao Irrigation System in Pilar, Talibon SRIS, Capayas IS in Ubay, BNIIP and Bayongan IS in San Miguel, Catigbian SWIP in Inabangga, Bonot-bonot SRIP in Buenavista, Hibale SRIP in Danao and Calunasan SRIP in Calape.
NIA 7 pooled donations from its employees, various individuals, and organizations including the NIA Bike Explorers, NIA Central Office General Services Department, AM Bikes, IV-Faith – NNCH Batch ’02, among others. The total financial donations were used to purchase the mentioned goods distributed.
NIA 7 also received clothing donations from its employees in the Regional Office. These were individually selected and washed to make sure they are ready to use since the surge washed out most of their clothes.
Meanwhile, the group is set to distribute the same goods to offices in Bohol that they did not reach due to the limited time.
