The Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System of NIA Region 7 is undergoing a 3-day Workshop on Preparation of GAD-Responsive Irrigation Project Proposals today at the NIA Central Visayas Training Center, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
The training, which will span until May 1, 2022, will orient the NIA 7 technical and institutional staff to properly integrate the Philippine Commission on Women’s (PCW) Guidelines to promote the GAD Agenda.
The Resource Speaker who is a member of the PCW National GAD Resource Pool, Mr. James Arsenio O. Ponce, explained the impact of a GAD-responsive Project Proposal.
“NIA’s Feasibility Studies should be converted into a Project Proposal that is integrated to Gender and Development, a strategic framework on addressing gender issues and achieving gender equality.”
He also pointed out the implications if the GAD Agenda is not attributed to the agency’s budget.
“Let us keep in mind that your Program of Work under GAA (General Appropriation Act) is integrated to an Infrastructure Project. Hindi pwede na bawasan ‘yon para sa Institutional Development dahil mawawalan ng poste, mawawalan ng canal,” he said.
From this day on, the participants will learn the parts of the PCW Proposal Template, and undergo Technical Inputting and Critiquing of Proposals per project.
