RM Membreve transfers operation of Banderahan CIS to IA

BANDERAHAN VALENCIA – On Thursday, February 22, 2018, the National Irrigation Administration Regional Office 7, through the Bohol Irrigation Management Office formally turned over the newly completed Banderahan Communal Irrigation System (CIS) extension project to its beneficiaries, the PinBanGin Irrigators Association, Inc. of Barangay Banderahan, Valencia, Bohol, headed by its president Arnel C. Gamba for them to handle the operation and maintenance of the said irrigation system.

The turnover ceremony began at around 9:00 o’clock in the morning which was attended by the NIA R7 regional manager, IMO personnel, IA officers, members, Cong. Arthur C. Yap’s representative – Engr. Espinosa, Gov. Edgar M. Chatto’s representative – Mr. Raul Molina, Mayor Katrina Lim-Yee’s representative – Mr. Jorge Buslon, Municipal, and barangay officials.

Engr. Modesto G. Membreve, the NIA R-7 regional manager, led the turnover ceremony.

In his turnover message, Regional Manager Membreve expressed words of joy and happiness for the accomplishment of the Communal Irrigation System extension project which will benefit the farmers of Banderahan and its adjacent barangays.

He added that he is thankful to all the government officials who helped the regional office in making the turnover ceremony a reality. He thanked Gov. Chatto for strongly indorsing the agency’s projects in the Provincial Development council up to the Regional Development Council.

He also thanked Cong. Yap who always supported the NIA’s projects in the third district and who according to RM Membreve fought for the approval of the region’s project proposals during the budget hearings and deliberations in the House of Representatives.

He also thanked Mayor Lim-Yee and all the local officials for their unwavering effort and support for the agency’s projects in Valencia.

RM Membreve urged the Irrigator’s Association (IA) to take good care of the irrigation system because it will help increase their production of ‘palay’ and likewise improve their livelihood.

“Rest assured that more irrigation projects beneficial to this community will be delivered by the agency during my leadership.” added Membreve.

For his part, IA President Gamba thanked the leadership of RM Membreve for making the turnover ceremony a reality. He also added that the irrigation system will play a vital role in encouraging the youths to return in farming instead of driving “habal-habal”.

He also promised and assured everyone present that all the members and officers of the PinBanGin irrigator’s association will take good care of the systems so that the next generation may also benefit from it.                

Representatives of the government officials present have also expressed words of happiness for the accomplishment of the irrigation system which will play a vital role in helping the farmers obtain higher rice production that will help achieve the government’s food security program.

The Banderahan Communal Irrigation System Extension Project will cater the forty nine (49) hectares service areas of Banderahan and Ginopolan that have fifty nine (59) strong IA members.

The said project was undertaken through the force account works that amounted three million two hundred thousand (3,200,000) pesos. It was supervised by Engr. Cesarea L. Caga-anan as Project In-Charge (PIC) and Charlie H. Mejorada as Institutional Development Officer (IDO) from the Bohol Irrigation Management Office.
