NIA R7 ATTENDS FIRST STAKEHOLDERS' CONSULTATION MEETING FOR WATER RESOURCE REGION 7

September 8, 2022

NIA R7 represented by Bohol-Cebu-Siquijor IMO Acting Division Manager Engr. Danilo M. Bugnos, Jr. and Cebu Office Assistant Head Engr. Nelson M. Miralles attend the First Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting today for Water Resource Region 7 (Central Visayas) Data Collection Survey conducted by the JICA Study Team in coordination with NEDA and NWRB, for the Water Resources Development and Management in the Philippines at the Quest Hotel & Conference Center, Cebu City.

As the country and the regional government centers continue to grow its economic activities and expand its population, cities like Davao, Legaspi and Cebu are projected to be in need of more water supply resources in the future. In addition, the effects of climate change may also have direct impact in securing sustainable water supplies in these regions. The data survey will contribute in assisting the country in addressing the issues on Water Management and in developing effective measures.

The activity further aims to move closer to more partnership and collaboration among the different agencies in the water sector and the government for a more sound and effective management of the Philippines’ water resources.

Attending virtually are Engr. Evelina Putong from the Regional Office and Engr. Helen Lacpao from the Negros Oriental Satellite Office (NOSO).

The consultation meeting is participated by government agencies, water districts, LGUs, academe and business sectors in Region 6 and 7.
