
The National Irrigation Administration Cebu Office turned-over 58 completed projects and systems with a total service area of 2,879 hectares, in the total amount of P 279,390,00.00 to 50 Irrigators Associations (IAs) in the Ceremonial Mass Turn-over of Completed Projects on December 13, 2021 at the Crown Regency Hotel, Fuente Osmeña, Cebu City.
36 Communal Irrigation System (CIS), 11 Pump Irrigation Project (PIP), 1 Pump Irrigation System (PIS), 7 Small Irrigation Project (SIP), 1 Balikatan Sagip Patubig Program (BSPP) and 2 Climate Change Adaptation Works are going to benefit a total of 4,431 farmer beneficiaries from the 50 Irrigators Associations in Cebu City (North and South) and Districts I, II, III, V and VII of the province of Cebu.
The National Irrigation Administration from the Central Office thru Operations Department Manager Engr. Delsy J. Revellame, to the Regional Office 7, thru Acting Regional Manager Engr. Reyne B. Ugay and to the Irrigation Management Office thru Acting Manager Engr. Vilma I. Uayan turned over the management, operation and maintenance of the irrigation facilities to the IAs of Cebu Province and Cebu City represented by Cebu Island Confederation of Irrigators, Inc. (CICI) President, Mr. Ireneo P. Leuterio.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Leuterio thanked NIA for the services it provided for them. He pronounced his commitment of really taking good care of the projects that were entrusted to them, and encouraged other IAs to do the same in order for them to still pass on these projects to the next generations. He shared to his co-IAs that “sa Kakugi, adunay asenso” (in hardwork, there’s success). In which he shared that these projects are nothing if they don’t work hard and help themselves better their lives. He further encouraged everyone to be better leaders that look after the welfare of everybody.
Engr. Delsy J. Revellame, CARP-IC Project Manager and Operations Department Manager in her inspirational message, encouraged the IA leaders to always be available for their members anytime their assistance and support are sought, be faithful to their members and to the NIA to strengthen the relationship they have with each other, be responsible in doing the tasks that come with the position they are holding and always be motivated to be more, to do more to help uplift the quality of life of one another in their organization.
She then challenged the IAs to participate in the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program. She challenged them to pen more partnerships with other government agencies.
Engr. Revellame called Cebu as the “Home of Outstanding Irrigators Associations”, with which she further challenged the NIA Cebu and the IAs to produce more Outstanding IAs for the Communal Irrigation Systems, for one to be able to enjoy not just the plaque and the cash prize, but also the 1M worth of Greenhouse Project (Family Model Farm Project) that comes with the award.
Also present in the ceremonial mass turn over were Cebu City Councilor and the Chair on the Committee on Public Order, Agriculture and Oversight, Hon. Phillip S. Zafra, CREMDEC Executive Director Engr. Allan L. Bautista, and personnel from the Central Office— Design Engineer Roald Mark Revellame and Acting Division Manager of Design Specification Division, Engr. Emilio M. Dumagas.
