In hopes to augment Farmer-Irrigators’ income, NIA collabs with TESDA for Skills Training and Development Programs

In support to the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program of Hon. Karlo Alexei B. Nograles, National Irrigation Administration Region 7 Regional Office (NIA-R7 RO), in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Bohol Provincial Office, conducted a Farmers' Orientation on TESDA'S offered Skills Training and Development Programs to Irrigators’ Association members in Bohol on August 10-11, 2021 at Reyna's Gardens and Restaurant, Calceta St., Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

The two-day event aims to facilitate information dissemination to the farmer-irrigators in their needed skills development, give them accessibility to TESDA’s offered skills and programs, and to make possible negotiations for any arrangement of programs intended for Irrigators Association.

NIA-R7 Regional Manager, Engr. Wilson M. Lopez, said in his message that agriculture needs to be made more profitable, attractive, and enterprising to enhance agricultural productivity to encourage the next generation farmers and retain those who want to quit farming.

TESDA Specialist, and Scholarship Focal, Mrs. Rosemarie J. Bantol, presented five Provincial Training Centers in Bohol that offer scholarship programs which include Rice Machinery Operation, Produce Organic Concoctions and Extracts Leading to Organic Agriculture Production, Small Engine Servicing, Bread and Pastry Production, Carpentry, Cookery, and many more.

The farmers were elated to know about these scholarships offered by TESDA which entails free training cost, accident insurance, training support fund, internet allowance, health/PPE allowance, book allowance, entrepreneurship free, assessment fee, and starter toolkits depending on the training they would want to avail.

An open forum commenced at the second part of the program where the participants shared their ideas on the possible negotiations of programs and are set to submit to TESDA Bohol their proposal with the help of NIA R7.
