The Malinao Dam Irrigation System in Pilar, Bohol completed its clearing operation on MDIP Main Canal after Super Typhoon Odette hit the Region.
As the devastating typhoon left debris in the irrigation facility, MDIP immediately took action and brought heavy equipment to clear out the uprooted trees.
Through the leadership Office in-Charge Aproniano Añora, the clearing of the Main Canal was completed on the second week of January.
OIC Añora said that this clearing activity is supposed to be part of the Operation and Maintenance routine done by Irrigators' Associations. However, considering that most of the farmers' homes were also destroyed by the typhoon, NIA 7 took the initiative to clear out the canals.
This maintenance activity is done in preparation for water delivery for this cropping season. It also aims to maintain the cleanliness of the canals which will affect the operations of the agency.
Through the years, NIA Region 7 has always been a helping hand to the Irrigators Associations, providing quality service to Filipino farmers. Thanks to the initiative of OIC Añora, farmlands in Pilar will be irrigated at the set scheduled time.
