BOHOL IRRIGATORS' ASSOCIATIONS PREP FOR 2ND CROPPING SEASON

April 28, 2022

The National Irrigation Administration Region 7, headed by the Acting Regional Manager Engr. Reyne B. Ugay, host a series of System Management Committee Meetings for farmers under Irrigation Systems of Malinao, Capayas, Bayongan, and Talibon on April 5-7, 2022, consecutively.

In his message, RM Ugay reiterates the PAGASA Weather Report on La Niña and urged farmers to make good use of this available water.

"As IA [Irrigator’s Association] Leaders, let us strategically plan our Cropping Calendar. Let us not waste the abundance of water that we are experiencing right now. Conserve so we have water to use for the following cropping season"

During these meetings, IA Presidents approved their Water Deliver and Distribution Plan for the coming cropping season. Together with their members, they will also conduct canal clearings beforehand to ensure the smooth flow of water freeing it from silt and debris.

Other government and agricultural agencies also attended the meeting to report updates and their new programs. Present at the event are the representatives from the Provincial Government of Bohol, Landbank of the Philippines, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region 7, Atlas Fertilizer Corporation, Provincial Agriculture Technology Coordinating Office (PATCO) Bohol, Municipal Agriculturists of the concerned municipalities, and some NIA 7 employees under the Operations Section.

These farmer-aiding offices will structure their services such as the distribution of seeds and fertilizers based on the agreed-upon water delivery plan during these meetings.

RM Ugay, who was present in all these meetings, was able to address the raised inquiries and concerns of the attending IA Presidents.
