
GINOPOLAN VALENCIA – On Tuesday, January, 2018, the National Irrigation Administration Regional Office 7, through the Bohol Irrigation Management Office formally conveyed the operation and maintenance of the newly accomplished extension project of Ginopolan Communal Irrigation System to its beneficiaries, the Ginopolan Anoyon Irrigators Association, Inc. of Barangay GInopolan, Valencia Bohol, headed by its president Aquilino U. Cagatin.
The turnover ceremony began at around 9:00 o’clock in the morning which was attended by the NIA R7 personnel, IA officers and members, government officials both from the local and provincial level.
Elvira H. Alvarado, the IDO head attended the said activity in behalf the Regional Manager Modesto G. Membreve who failed to personally attend the activity due to more important affairs in the central office.
In her message, Elvira relayed Engr. Membreve’s warm happiness and heartfelt thanksgiving that the extension project which NIA and the farmers have worked together through the force account works had been accomplished.
She also added that Engr. Membreve would like the farmers to maximize the use of the communal irrigation systems and most importantly take good care of it because it will be for their own benefit and that is to improve their livelihood.
Alvarado also emphasized to the farmers that the life span of the CIS will depend on the care and maintenance of the IAs, because from now on they have become the owners and stewards of this irrigation system.
Local officials present during the activity have also expressed their warmest thanks and commended the leadership of RM. Membreve for a job well done in fulfilling its goal to help the farmers obtain higher cropping production through the IS.
For his part, IA President Aquilino U. Cagatin expressed words of gratitude towards the personnel of NIA R7 headed by its regional manager Engr. Membreve for making this turn over ceremony a reality. He also assured everyone that the IAs will do its best to maintain the operability of the irrigation system conveyed to them.
“I am sure that every member of our association will take good care of this system because we need it to improve our livelihood” added Cagatin.
The Ginopolan CIS extension project will cater the fifty six hectares service areas of barangay Ginopolan and Annoyon that have one hundred fifty strong IA members.
The said project was undertaken through the force account works that amounted 3 million. It was supervised by Engr. Ma. Cesarea L. Caga-anan as project in-charge and Charlie H. Mejorada as Institutional Development Officer.
