Before the establishment of NIA Regional Office 7, it was once a part of NIA Region 8. It was by virtue of NIA Board Resolution No. 7567-09 series 2009 that the regional office was finally launched on April, 2009.
The Regional Irrigation Office covers the provinces in Central Visayas composing of Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor. While Cebu is generally the location of most government Regional Centers, NIA 7 Regional Office is located at Dao District, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. It is composed of 1 Interim IMO, the Bohol-Cebu IMO and 1 Satellite Office, the Negros Oriental-Siquijor Satellite Office.
The region likewise has within it four (4) National Irrigation Systems, the Malinao, Bayongan, Capayas and Talibon IS, which compose the Bohol Integrated Irrigation System that covers 8,204 hectares of operational area.
NIA 7 has also 428 communal irrigation systems, 157 in Bohol, 167 in Cebu, 86 in Negros Oriental and 18 in Siquijor.
In the span of six years since the region’s establishment, 4 different Regional Managers headed the office. Engr. Modesto G. Membreve (2009-2011), Engr. Diosdado A. Rosales (2011-2013), Engr. Alejandro L. Alberca (2013-2014), and presently, Engr. Mario H. Sande who started his tenure on August 13, 2014.
