POBLACION, SAN ISIDRO – On Friday, March 9, 2018, the National Irrigation Administration Regional Office 7, through the Bohol Irrigation Management Office formally turned over the operation and maintenance of the newly completed Cansague Sur (Masunoy) Small Irrigation System (SIS) to its beneficiary, the Poblacion – Masunoy Irrigators Association Inc. of Barangay Poblacion and Masunoy, San Isidro, Bohol, headed by its president Sabino G. Orbuda for them to handle the operation and maintenance of the said irrigation system.
The turnover ceremony began at around 9:30 in the morning and was attended by the NIA R-7 regional manager, IMO personnel, IA officers, 2nd District Congressman Aristotle C. Aumentado, Gov. Edgar M. Chatto’s representative – Mr. Ariel Lungay, Mayor Jacinto B. Naraga’s representative – Hon. Lourdes Samuya and Barangay officials.
Engr. Modesto G. Membreve, the NIA R-7 regional manager, led the turnover ceremony.
In his turnover message, Regional Manager Membreve expressed words of praise to the Almighty Father for giving him and the personnel of the NIA R-7 the strength and wisdom to accomplish the small irrigation system project.
He gave special mention to Cong. Aumentado for always supporting the projects and activities of the NIA R-7 despite his busy and hectic schedule who graced the said activity even if he had prior commitment to attend in Clarin.
According to him, the project was the product of the hard work and collaboration of the different government officials who in one way or another did their part to make this event a success.
“As head of the NIA R-7, I cannot successfully perform all our projects intended to the farmers if any of these government officials present here will not cooperate and help the agency. Therefore, we should also be grateful to them for their support and efforts.” said RM Membreve.
“I would like to encourage the farmers to maximize the use of the newly constructed irrigation system by diligently planting rice and other crops to increase food production in order to help achieve the food security program of the government.” added RM Membreve
As final message, RM Membreve told the IA beneficiaries to take good care of the irrigation system because it will help boost their livelihood income. He also assured them of his readiness to serve and the availability of his office for any project requests and proposals viable and beneficial to the farmers.
Cong. Aristotle C. Aumentado for his part extended his warm and joyful greetings to the Poblacion-Masunoy Irrigator’s Association for receiving their requested irrigation system.
He also congratulated and commended the leadership of RM Membreve for a job well done in assuring the successful completion of the Cansague Sur (Masunoy) irrigation system that will certainly benefit the farmers of San Isidro.
For his part, IA president Sabino G. Orbuda thanked Cong. Aumentado, and RM Membreve together with his staffs for realizing their dream of having an irrigation system a reality.
According to him, the irrigation system will encourage them to increase their cropping density especially that the food demand of the province is expected to rise with the inflation of tourists brought by the completion of the Panglao Airport.
“I assure the NIA and the government officials present here that as head of the IA I will spearhead the care and maintenance of this God given structures because it guarantees our consistent cropping production.
The local officials present have also expressed words of joy for the ceremonial turnover of the irrigation system. They have also assured continues support and dedication to serve them because according to them the farmers are the key players in safeguarding the food security of the province.
The Cansague Sur (Masunoy) Small Irrigation System project will cater the fifty three (53) hectares service areas of Barangay Poblacion and Masunoy, Balilihan Bohol that have forty (40) strong IA members.
The said project was undertaken through the force account works that amounted five million one hundred twenty five thousand (5.125M) pesos. It was supervised by Engr. Bienvenido T. Seroje as project in-charge and Princes Elaine O. Curiba and Severo G. Caipang as Institutional Development Officers from the Bohol Irrigation Management Office.
