As a kick-off to the upcoming NIA Anniversary, the agency held its Annual Tree Planting Program on June 10, 2016. The nationwide activity has been a significant part of the agency’s anniversary as a proof to its commitment in helping the conservation of watersheds in the country and mitigating the impact of climate change.
Through the assistance of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources 7 and its PENROs, the NIA 7 successfully conducted this year’s tree planting activity with a total of 2,300 seedlings consisting of various tree species. These were planted across five (5) identified watershed sites in province of Bohol and in Cebu.
The Regional Office and the BIIS was able to plant five hundred seedlings in Aurora, Pilar. 300 in Zamora, Talibon. 500 in Bayongan, San Miguel and an additional 200 in Calanggaman, Ubay, Bohol.
Meanwhile the Bohol-Cebu IMO was able to plant a total of 800 seedlings, 500 in Alicia Bohol and 300 in Cebu.
