NIA breaks ground for P725M  Cayacay-Mabini irrigation project

TAGBILARAN CITY, May 26, (PIA)--Former Agriculture Secretary and non Bohol Third District Representative Arthur Yap led local officials in breaking ground and laying the time capsule for the P725 million irrigation facility that would be a new hope for at least 320 poor farmers of Mabini Bohol.

With Yap were Mabini Mayor Juanito Jayoma Jr., Alicia Mayor Marnilou Ayuban's representative Panfilo Olaguir, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Regional Manager Modesto Membreve, Abaca barangay Captain Silverio Miano, Engr Glen Doloritos for Gov Edgar Chatto, Cabulao Mabini Irrigators Association Vice President Juan Amores, irrigation association presidents Felipe Tutor, Maria Ayuban, and Exequiel Nudalo.

NIA 7's Extended Services Recornized

NIA 7 is among the agencies recognized by the 4th Infantry Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army in line with its 36th Founding Anniversary Celebration on March 16, 2017 at Camp Gov. Lino Chatto, Macaas, Tubigon, Bohol.

Engr. Olimpio Jamisola Galagala Jr, Manager of the Engineering & Operations Division, NIA 7 receives the plaque of recognition from Brigadier General Franciso V. Delfin, Asst. Div. Commander of the 31D, Philippine Army.

The plaque is given as a token of appreciation for the support extended by the agency as a part of the technical support team in the programs of the Philippines Army in the Province of Bohol.

Montegracia CIP Turnover

In behalf of the National Irrigation Administration 7, Admin Chief Jose Lito Lambojon together with Engr. Melchorito V. Gucor, PIC Edilberto B. Evardo and IDO Rico B. Bato-on head the turnover of the Montegracia CIP to the Sama-Buyog IA, Inc. on February 11, 2017.

The 2.5 million irrigation project is located in Barangay Buyog, Getafe, Bohol which is also the first irrigation facility funded by the government in the municipality.

The project is composed 5 units check dams, a 754 meters concrete canal, an elevated flume and thresher crossing. These facilities were designed to accommodate the needed water supply of around 20 hectares rice fields in the area which have been dependent of rainwater since.

NIA 7 Tree Planting 2016

As a kick-off to the upcoming NIA Anniversary, the agency held its Annual Tree Planting Program on June 10, 2016. The nationwide activity has been a significant part of the agency’s anniversary as a proof to its commitment in helping the conservation of watersheds in the country and mitigating the impact of climate change.

Through the assistance of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources 7 and its PENROs, the NIA 7 successfully conducted this year’s tree planting activity with a total of 2,300 seedlings consisting of various tree species. These were planted across five (5) identified watershed sites in province of Bohol and in Cebu.

Two Bol-anon IAS among the country's best

Quezon City – The San D Mil IA in Dagohoy and the Kawasan-Cayacay IA in Alicia both from the province of Bohol booked places in the recently concluded Annual Search for the Most Outstanding Irrigators’ Associations conducted by the National Irrigation Administration through its Institutional Development Division.

The pronouncement is in line with the celebration of the 53rd Anniversary of the National Irrigation Administration last June 22, 2016 held at the National Irrigation Administration Central Office, Diliman, Quezon City.
